Why Should I Clean Out My Gutters ?
Your gutters & downspouts are designed to divert water
away from your foundation and to keep excess water off
window and door casings. When the fall and spring
seasons come the gutters fill with leaves and foliage
causing the gutters to become clogged and overflow.
Overflowing water can cause damage to facia boards
and the windows and doors and also seep into
basements / crawlspaces. It also can cause roof leaks
and soffitt damage. Not only the leaves cause
cloggs,excessive shingle gravel, bird nest left over
construction materials and not to metion those balls that
are fun to catch bouncing off the roof.
How Often Should You Clean Your Gutters
It's important to have this done at least twice a year
once in the fall and once in the spring. Other times
to consider a cleaning is after big thunderstorms
come thru. If your home has a lot of trees around
you might mant consider more clean outs. Standing
water in gutters has been known to cause a lot of
problems for example insect infestation and it can
cause the gutter to pull loose from the home and
fall .
